Title: Revell Gato on ebay...?
Post by: das boot on May 24, 2008, 06:54:13 am
Item number 250243886592 : Revell Gato submarine kits

I found this on ebay...I take it that these are kosher items and not some rubbish, old stock or water damaged kits? Anyone have any expierence of this seller and/or these kits? Just wondering before I buy one, 'cos they are going at a really cheap price.

Cheers,

Rich

Antics is a reputable company with several branches.

The Gato is for sale on their web site and in their shops for £30

They do look allright, don't they ?  There are three available on the site and 12 people have registered a bid !!!.

If it's over subscribed, I suppose the shop can provide more.  ;)

I might trip down to Antics and have a look.

Yes, I was there last year and know by experience (now  ;)) what rain can do to a boat in trouble. I decided not to stay and went back home another 150 miles. I then crashed out and today feeling the strain. That's why I'm here enjoying myself.

It was nice to meet you and the other guys and put names to faces.

Cheers...Ken

ps    might go 'subbing' one day

OK, the required funding has been raised and I'll be ordering my Gato from anticsonline tomorrow. Thank you gentlemen, for all the assistance you've given me about the sellers and the boat itself....I appreciate it all very much.

Cheers all,

Rich

Anyone planning to convert their Gato to a just a surface runner?
Might be a good boat for straight running when SteamboatPhil is around.....

.... so how do you convert is to surface only?

Mine is just going to be a surface runner Martin when i get to build it i shall be using MFA 385 motors on 7.2v buggy pack.
Personally i think it looks better as a surface runner then a fully diving sub but each to there own.

Got a few days off work so may make a start on it 2moro if im not too busy fitting the running gear into my Battleship.

Hi Jay,

How are you going to make a water tight compartment?
Is your lifeboat on standby??

Ok ive started to build my Gato as a surface runner.
For those who are building thing model im going to try and help with the fitting of running gear into the sub.

What i have done to fit my M2 shafts is fix very lighty part numbers 15 & 16 in place then draw around the shaft exit on parts 5 & 6
now file the hole out until the M2 shaft fits nicely into the hole.
For those that may be wondering i have chosen to build the hull in 2 halfs as this makes it a lot easier to fit everything in before sealing her tight and im still owndering on wheither to fix the rudder and have steering on the motors or try and have the rudder working???

Pics to follow on when i upload them.
