When I stop to think of the horrors that them chaps in those Dunkirk waters must have endured, with bullets flying all around, I can only imagine their elation upon seeing those rescue boats. And what better than to be rescued by one of them little Thames cruisers. It must have been a sight to behold.
I've just spent an enjoyable couple of hours over at your website, Mr. MCAT. All I can say is thanks a million for putting up all them photos. Yours is one site this is definitely going in the favourites folder.

Excellent work, my man. Thank YOU!

Reminds me of the story of the Guards officer, newly back from Dunkirk, who is greeted by a colleague in the mess.
"Rupert! You're back! What was it like?"
"Oh, my dear chap, you have no idea. The noise! The people!"

A boat we owned many years ago was reputedly a Dunkirk Little Ship.
Unfortunately rot had taken its toll and lack of a bottom less pocket forced it's scrapping.

If you click on the "Home" page of this site you will see a pic of "my" fleet in 1990 when "Sir Bedivere" was the co-ordinating ship. Quite a day. First time I've seen this although it could well have been taken from our flight deck. Bryan.

There is a great book, first published in 1989, "The Little Ships of Dunkirk" by Christian Brann (forward by HRH Prince Philip) It has loads of photos, maps, great source of info. Not sure if its still in print (try Amazon) It has at least one of my future models in it (subject to finishing painting of the lounge for Mrs Steamboatphil)
