Title: Retainer tug.
Post by: lighterman on June 09, 2008, 08:03:58 am: Hello to all here is my first real posting on this forum. took a model to work to hand it over to a work mate that asked me to build it for him so thought i would post a picture of my latest work here to see what you thought of it. don't hold back but if there are any negative replies i will cry and lock myself in a dark room till winter comes!
i find that summer does rather slow the ship yard (workshop) activities right down.

the motors are 2X 12 volt 1:10 como drills .
2 electronize controllers
4 bladed handed props in fixed korts.... home made from resin (maybe a posting on that later)
decks from 3 mm ply braced with 6mm ramin.
the casing is plastic sheeting

i wish you luck with the regain i have built a waterline model of the MERSINA in 1/32nd as a retirment gift for the old engineer i was working with on her. it may interest you to know that by 2011 there will be 4 new tugs in the fleet and the regain. the new boats are going to be damen shoal busters.. all twin screw.

I will be at your dock facility shortly, your Marine Suprintendent has said I can come and take pictures of Regain when she is next in dock.

she is standing in for the retainer while she is having some engine work done

I HAVE MADE REGAIN IN LEGO, I MAY HAVE SOME CD ROMS SOMEWHERE WITH PICTURES....... NOW I 'VE GOTTA FIND THEM !

Post by: lighterman on June 24, 2008, 10:46:05 pm: guy! when your pictures of the retainer and the mersina appered in our firms magazine i was working on the mersina at the time and someone spotted the figure in the deckchair semi naked reading the newspaper and with one voice we all said the name or our skipper, who soon as the sun came out would be found in his deckchair! does love a bit of the "old current bun"

i think i have you as that boater am i right?
well the next model is on the blocks now.. see you no doubt in a few months with the trials for that one... one day i will get to finish my own model of a lighterage tug and get it up there!
