What on earth is the function of the Stena ship? She's not at all like the ferry I once used to cross the Channel!

The Stena Carron unit is designed to drill in up to 10000ft of water, under zero discharge conditions. Water Depth Capacity: 10000 ft

This is the caption that was with the picture.  Not what you would call an attractive vessel!!



Stena Drilling Ltd. announced the naming of its second of four deepwater drillships - “Stena Carron” - at Samsung
Heavy Industries’ shipyard in Geoje, South Korea.
According to the press-service of the company reports, the ship is capable of drilling in water depths of up to 10,000ft
and has a total drilling depth of up to 35,000ft.
It is said that Chevron will utilise the vessel in a five-year northern European and international drilling campaign.
