Title: Close encounter with Tug and barges
Post by: chingdevil on July 03, 2008, 08:18:41 pm
I was told about this video by the Marine Superintendant at Cory Environmental. http://uk.youtube.com:80/watch?v=LjfS1_fJ79w&feature=email
The tug is Regain the captain only missed these guys because he saw them through the windows at the front of the tug. The photo shows the captains view through the windows at the front.

After looking at the video and remembering the view out through the windows on the front of the tug this afternoon, they are very lucky indeed even though they got swiped by the barges.

the problem was made worse in that the regain was going through the bridge and the slightest wiggle would have the whip effect and the those bridge piers are cast iron! clonk crack! and no more trains to charring cross!
did you get a good look round the regain?

I got the impression that the second guy to be rescued was lucky not to get his legs chopped off by the RIB's propellor as the outboard was still in gear and appeared to be running quite fast.  :o
