Looking for some advice on which motor (and where to buy) for a Tug (Mountfleet Tug) which is 42" long with 10" beam

Any help and links would be appreciated

Thanks

Hi, you won't go far wrong with the T12 motors from Mobile Marine Models, a bit pricey but exellent quality and will last a long time....... Low revving, low current draw and lots of torque to spin a big prop..

Hi Daverolph

I've built a Mountfleet model. They are solidly built and quite heavy boats, so I was advised to fit a 'Robbe 1000'  type motor. This drives a 70 mm brass prop quite nicely through the water. I found it a nice quiet motor which doesn't draw too much from the battery.

These can be obtained from  Westbourne models in Bournmouth for about £38 or so.

Here is their web site. It's under "motors"  about half way down the page

Hope this helps
