Title: Fire boat battlle...round 2
Post by: Umi_Ryuzuki on July 28, 2008, 05:06:23 am
Portland, Oregon, USA held its second annual Maritime Heritage Festival.
And once again, I took on the Portland Fireboat William Campbell.

Last year due to pump issues, I was only able t run the one main monitor, or
the four smaller deck house monitors. This year, I managed five of the seven
fire monitors on the boat.

I think I lost,...  ::) However after the battle, the David Campbell still felt the
need to sail over and intimidate my boat.   ;D

Off to a good start
We need more water!! ... I canna' give any more cap'n!
Help we are being intmidated!

Thanks Doyle,

The hour was scheduled as a time for Fire boat demonstration, and
when my fire boat sailed out there were lots of jokes form the crowd.
Most of them couldn't figure out who was controlling it, as I usually stand way off.
It wasn't till I got out on the water ski dock to take the pictures that people started
to find me.. Took the crew of the David Campbell awhile too, as I had faded back into
the crowd. They waved when they finally found me.

Hopefully I will have all seven monitors running next year.
And with volume or pressure, or what ever it takes to get a good show going.

 :)

Thanks Martin,

It's not detailed out, because I have been fighting with the pumps.

but here are a few more pics...

The quick tour continued...

 :)

Designed to run three pumps.. but over time I have discovered that
there is air infiltration at the shaft, causing cavitation, so pumps are only
working at half capacity.

hi there umi . I would like to say thats top quality work O0. Love the brass work . One question does the water run through all that red pipe on your model tug to go to the water cannons.

I had intended that  plumbing to be operational, but when it came time to
connect and disconnect them, they were nothing but trouble.

So I ran the front monitor down through the stairway  lid, and through the deck.
And the the vour corner monitors up through the deck house. However, he stern
deck house monitors still use a portion of that plumbing.
