I seem to recall the tug guy from Lincoln (is it mobile marine?) was selling a small (2' ish) grp schooner hull at weymouth last year, reasonable price.

M.A. JAMES.

1900, 3 Masted Schooner

This beautiful model hull is of a typical turn of the century trading schooner, Built in Portmadoc, North Wales in 1900, the "M.A. JAMES" was completed as a three masted topsail schooner for work in the slate and general cargo trade. These Welsh built schooners were known as the Western Ocean yachts due to their graceful lines and good turn of speed. With a crew of 5 (sometimes the master's wife sailed too) these relatively small vessels would range far & wide, slate to Germany, salt to Newfounderland, cod from Newfounderland to the Mediterranean, sometimes at sea for up to 15weeks, all for an average weekly wage of £2.50.

This really beautiful hull comes complete with the gunwhales, rubbing strips, bow and stern detail and mouldings, this hull is a must for the scale sailor looking for a practical and attractive model. Plans are drawn full-size and supplied by DAVID MacGREGOR, this model is eminently suitable for R/C, the hull could also be rigged as a Brig, Ketch or auxiliary Ketch.

Measurements

    * Model Scale = 1:32.
    * Length....36.1/2".
    * Beam....8.1/2".

Not sure if it qualifies as a schooner, but the Waverley Y2K is a practical and economic hull which can certainly be rigged as a schooner.

just to update you Tigertiger, all metcalf mouldings moulds (not the kits) are owned by modelsbydesign down in devon.
