Title: AUSTIN HEALEY SPEEDBOAT.
Post by: nhp651 on August 09, 2008, 08:16:49 pm
I've just been offered an Austin Healey Speedboat.....yes, the same company that produced the magnificent range of classic sports cars.
it's powered by the old morris engine that went into a frog eye sprite.
it's in need of some resto, but i haven't got a clue what it's worth or what the thing even looks like.
tried googling but no success.
has anyone got any pics of these rare beasties.cheers, neil.

Now that is one beauuuutifffffullll boat O0  A truly stunning restoration job   .. judging by the extra stud in the head it looks like an m.g or cooper engine

B.M.C.  a series petrol dicky......healey hundred four used the a series 1500 engine.....but the extra head stud was used on the go faster models like m.g and cooper.

Had one once...it was noisy , it leaked. it was bloody cold in the winter and handled like a three legged camel........wish i still had it :(

                      Oh well hey ho.

I think this is it... This one showed up at the Maritime Heritage Festival in 2007

In fact, I think this is the one in the link shown for Richland, Washington.

That is quite simply stunning!

I myself own a rare classic British sports boat and its amazing how much attention you get from the half million pound sunseeker guys and yacht croud.

However mine is nothing like that! oh dear.... looking at those examples on the website, the fact that its British, I think I'm going to put that on my "want list" above the Aquarama.

I'm tempted even to consider adding it to my 2009 Scratch build "plan" but I don't think I could build it and then live with the injustice of not owning a real one......

Woe is me!

I was offered the boat "very Cheaply" at the Northern "Lowther Country Show" two weeks ago.
The owner of the company who owns it says it is in a very restorable condition, said they just wanted rid of the boat as it was a barn find.
Being a GRP hull it is quite sound and as a restoration I was told that if the company did the restoration for me, which would cost "about " £3000 (£3 thousand), I could have the boat cheeply.
Having seen the photos of the boat with the inboard engine I am very sorely tempted and put my classic car that I'm m saving for on hold.
Will keep you informed.
