:) :)Good Morning.
I am in the process of building the Caldecraft Kit "Milford Star".
Don't know much about trawlers especially the Trawl Boards, I know what they do but do not know where they are placed on this model since my plan does not indicate a position.
Has anybody built this kit, if so I would appreciate a feedback on this question and also a general opinion on its quality.
Many thanks Ceres. O0 O0

Hello CERES!
There's also this thread here that may be of interest: http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=12137.0
It may also be worth checking the following websites via Google: "The Bosun's Watch"; "Trawler Photos", and www.llangibby.eclipse.co.uk
for this particular type of steam trawler (i.e. Round Table class, ex- Royal Navy minesweepers). The last website I've listed you just need to click on "milfordtrawlers".
All the best
Simon ::)

Just glancing at your post I thought that the funnel markings were similar to the "flags" shown on my model of "Bayflower" (aka "James Cullen"). If I am correct, then I suggest you contact the Hull Fishing Museum via the Humberside Council. The guys I talked to there were more than helpful. Give them a ring. BY.

I think you'll find that the funnel and its associated flag (from the above article) belong to a model that was constructed by another modeller.

:)Many thanks for all your replies to the above, especially the Link provided by DickyD.
I agree to the statements regarding instructions and the drawings are rubbish. would also add that some parts supplied in the kit come out at different dimensions quoted in the parts list.
With this type of kit containing inferiority drawings and some non-elegible part numbers I was thinking of designing some sought of head scratching mechanism to hang from the garage roof, directly over the bench. Changed my mind since I want to continue the build of this Trawler.
Incidently, if anyone else his interested, watch TV tonight at 8.30 for a six part series on UK trawler men.
Once again thank you all for all the valuable info. Ceres.

Tug Kenny,
Ken,
Thanks for this super photo, deck kit is very similar to Milford Star and your boards are where I thought they should be.
Many thanks, Ceres.

just one small problem with the boards Tug kenny, if you don't mind me telling you, they are upside down and each should be on the opposite side of the ship. cheers, neil.

Thanks Neil, it will be corrected. I had no way of knowing these details. Should be easy to do, so no harm done
Cheers ... ken
