Title: Matt arosols
Post by: Garabaldy on August 28, 2008, 08:56:53 am
Ok i have just spent £70 or so on some enamel arolsols from halfords which is great but after doing lots of spraying i notice they have a slight gloss finish  when what i really want is a matt finish for realism.  Where can i get matt enamel arosols?

Try http://www.flairmodels.co.uk/index.htm. I've used their products and found them OK and the button cleaner is very handy to have.

I am a long way from being expert, but when people use gloss enamels for durability I have always understood that they made them matt with light coats of a matt varnish.

SERIOUS scale modellers might also spray an even but thin coat of neutral grey to mimic atmospheric dispersion, then follow with the matt varnish

if using a matt varnish over the gloss works i'l be chuffed.  Big ORSV ships just don't have shiny hulls.....

I've been having a look on this site too - www.paintsprays.co.uk anyone ever used them?  They seem to have a huge selection of all sorts of paints

Look in 'finishes' on http://www.flairmodels.co.uk/index.htm and go for 'Matt PC10@. This is a matt varnish that gives a realistic effect.

Hi Garabaldy I use them for all my spray cans and I have found their service to be fast and efficient, plus their stocks are quite extensive. O0
