These I have on the go
Type 45
HMS Orkney
Small Tug
MSC Volant
Torpedo Boat from Free Model Boat Plans
Cabin Cruiser (From Plans MBoats)
Type VIIc Sub.
HMS Triton Style boat.
Restoration of a 2 * Vosper/aerokits Fireboats.
Fleetscale Bismark
and a few others , one day one of them might get built..
NUFFINK.......Just finished my springer and after making 2 lifeboats.....I will be totally buildless
Barry, I am going to make a start on a Springer soon. If I get stuck, can I commission you to built one for me?? ::)
Downloaded plans for Springer tug so had better get wood and bits in for that (or them!!)
Am not building a tug yet but have got plans for a couple. Cant remember the names but think one is called the Arnold. Plan by Jim Pottinger.
Just part way through a J-Class yacht, the Rainbow, and in the last couple of weeks managed to place another yacht, the Britannia to where the missus had some of her "bits". Moved "bits" for my boat, she then put them back, I moved them again etc, etc. >>:-( >>:-(
Cant blame her though. They have taken over somewhat but thats what shelves are for though.
Aren't they ::) ::)
HMS Magpie;
Couple of sixties style speedboats;
Making plans for a scratch build Chinese Junk - hope it doesn't end up junk!!
Must finish off a paddle boat that I started over 18 months ago but I almost hate the thing >>:-(
Am part way through a project that involves separate parts of boats - winch, detailed cabin, engine, etc. Sort of like a showcase showing the parts in more detail. Hope that makes sense.
Ron.
70 speed controller, 30 R/C switches, 10 audio mixer/boosters, 40 assorted bells and whistles, 20 D/Bs........
and then after lunch...................... :o
FLJ
did you ever get the Police Boat drawings from Martin Mayhem?
aye

Hi all, I'm building this at the moment:Archibald - I grew up on Tintin (is it obvious?!) and have considered making the Aurora for a long time. Herge was fastidious when it came to researching objects from real life, and I had wondered whether there was an original vessel behind this one?
Im a newbie here. Just signed up three days ago. Very impressed with the site.
I have built in 1/96 the USS Missiuri, my first ever ship model and a Fletcher destroyer.
Now currently building the hull for the Richelieu and some progress on her superstructure.
Will be starting a build log here soon.
Cheers.
Adrian.

3. A rebuild of a 40 year old "Waverider" cabin cruiser. My first build. Now nearly finished.
Roger in France.
To all who have commented on my model. Do not dispair, its not that good. I have seen better. Even the Richelieu will have some artistic lisence applied to it as my skill level in scratch building is not all the wonderful. Will substitute similar looking stock fittings for the ODD French one. For the un wiitting thought should look ok. I will start the build post soon.
Cheers,
Adrian.

Believe me that if I could, I would. :-))
Perhaps, if I can do what I want to do re; a small marine engine for steam, I might have a go at one off (block).
Will post some photos one day/week/month (when I can) of some of the machines that we have at work. A few of them are rather special.
Have also got a little lathe in the garage (boat-shed).
Ron.

My little project I've had in mind for many years...in 1/12th scale. Hence the need for five 1/12th scale big block Chevy motors....

The blue back is looking good, Rich
You might be pleased to know that i have started working on the plug for the Novgorod semi kit this weekend, twice the size of my original, 1/50th scale.
I will post photo's once i have it looking something like a finished hull.

Lots of chatter on the forum but is ANYBODY actually building any model boats at the moment?!?!?!? {:-{
"Boats".... oh, so that's where I'm going wrong!... :embarrassed:
Last year i started building the new HMS.Daring, and after a few months gave up as it needed some changes doing in the build, as i did it so could get inside more easier, and thats when i hit the problems, friends told me to get cracking and start building to get it done and in the water, so for a few weeks made some drawings as how to make the changes i need, the superstructure is scratch build in liteply,[ this is what needs changing ] and motors for the two radars, hull is converted, she in 1/96th scale, and around five foot, now i find out that PS SHIPS/Sirmar might be closed, no web page up and running, and as i need some more fittings from Paul to finish the boat off, i am a little down after spending over three hundred quid so far, so i am thinking i might just take a sledgehammer to the thing and smash it to bits.
That paddler engine looks like a seriously impressive piece of modelling - shame you couldn't get it working! What was the problem with "Mount Washington" - was it top-heavy, or just difficult to sail/steer?Edward. Basically a general ignorance on my part. I hadn't realised how important "balance" is for a paddler. The hull is only about 8" wide, but the main deck is closer to 16". I also spent a fair proportion of my life cutting out the paddle wheels from sheet brass. Too heavy!

It's supposed to be a hobby and not a race. Rush it and you'll never be happy with the result. Ignore your friends, sit back and think of the way forward. Good luck. BY.
I'm coming to the end of Deanmarine's HMS NUBIAN, some items still to be fitted when this picture was taken. Many problems and frustrations with the kit. When complete I'll post more photos and go into the build in more detail.

I'm still building a lovely kit, the Graupner Pegasus...... :((
Heres a few pics of my wee container ship.
Is anyone interested in taking on this build for me?..... Please?Wouldn't mind doing it for myself :-))
Wouldn't mind doing it for myself :-))
HI KENNY , like the look of lady wooes , whose hull and plan is it ? GLAD you enjoyed the show ......LARRY....
Hello Dave, mine is 1/96 aswell 8ft it comes out at, one set of cargo is enough of a challange for me but the containers will be able to come off so it can sail light ship or with carg
Im having brain blocks at the moment on how to build the uprights for the containers to sit on down the ships side.
Building a Solent class 48-007 and just started a 52 ft Arun with a difference. ;)

Come on Dave, crack on, we need something big for towing next year! :-))

Just received a Dark Biter kit which I will convert to Dark Aggressor. It's my first kit build after scratch building for the last 700 years, maybe it was only fifty with lots of gaps in between builds.
Have just finished renewing the motor and electrics in my Tug 1/32 scale Forceful, the real one is part of the Brisbane Maritime Museum.I made this model 26 years ago and in between moving countries several times it had quite a few years in storage. It's so good now I'm retired to be able to spend time on my boats.

Received my Model Slipway Aziz kit today. I've opened the box and looked at it but I've got some domestic stuff to do before I can really start on it.
I finished Aziz several months ago. It is a great kit to build. When I take her to the pond I always get compliments on how she performs. Lots of work but well worth the effort. I built up the after deck hatch and shortened the after most scuppers to reduce deck flooding. I also did not cut out the port and starb gangway openings. Not noticeable deviations from the plan but my deck never gets wet. Just thought I might mention these changes as there is little freeboard on the after deck and in any kind of rough water your deck will get wet. Thanks Steve. I'll look out for where those changes might be. Looking at the YouTube vids a wet backside seems par for the course on AHTS vessels.
Good building.

Now that I've got thedining tableworkshop :embarrassed: back after Christmas I'm back to restoring my antique Pond Yacht. I could just do with a decent bit of light to get the painting of the hull under-way. This gloomy weather is such a pain!
Just finished up the Joffre.

Very nice job John! Looks like it's morphed itself up out of the plans!

Hi,
I have just pulled the dust sheets off my model of MacBrayne's MV Lochiel, she has lain for about four years unfinished, so that's this winters project!
Clark
that's a nice looking model. did you build it from a kit. If so where did you buy the kit.
Blooming heck that brings a new meaning to solid state! Two foot high :-)
I was given this it has been in the loft for 50 years his dad built and sailed it in Wales Blackpill park.
Just repaired all the bits rewired the motors and away she went not sure how old it is.
I see that the huge boxes are not the controller, but just the holder of the gizmology while the controller is a small box with push knobs. Thankyou for sharing the film Mr Nemo.
Excellent refurb on the tree house! Even I would like a place like that in my garden:O)
Not exactly 'building', just 'reconstructing'. O0
I recently acquired an elderly Pilot Boat (built 1982) in a bit of a sad state having been painted with several slabs of what looks like Dulux emulsion! Some parts are missing, the mast, windows, ventilators and mostly small deck bits. It has a GRP hull and ply deckhouse. It measures 72cm long x 28 wide. All it has inside is a motor. prop and shaft. It looks like a speedy hull.
I have started by stripping several layers of Dulux from the deckhouse and fitted a steering servo. Basically, I think with a decent paint and new small parts it will make a nice runabout.
One thing - can anyone help identify the kit? Here 'she' is ............
Bob.
Hiya,
Just new here and was wondering if anyone can help me out with Plans for the Caldercraft ss Coaster.
I recently bought it second hand and needs restoring..
many Thanks :-)
Here are a couple of build pictures
In awe of that Hairy Andy guy with so many projects on the go at once and here I am still struggling away to get a Deans kit done....
I am currently getting back into sailing model yachts after quite a few years lay off. I have several of Vic Smeeds non class yachts, a couple of Marbleheads and an A class currently needing attention before getting back on the water.
I recently joined my local model yacht club and having attended their open 6m event , which included a brief sail of one of the members boats, decided that I needed something to sail without too much work. Last week I bought one of Hobbyking's offerings, the HydroPro Affinity RG65 kit.
While it goes together quickly, I made the mistake of sticking to the instructions too closely, rather than doing what I am used to. They show a way of threading 3 hole bowsies which I tried , but which virtually guarantees that you will get a hernia before they move ! and they provide a hook to help quick change the entire rig which does not go through the deck eye that it would need to for the jib to come off the boat. Just proves that you are never too old to learn new mistakes ! Other that that, it is a nice quick way on to the water
So the old transmitters were not so much solid state as empire state being two foot tall.its not sank, just abandon ship, mutinied as the captain wasn't sharing out the booty (well wages really), arrr
What am I building - well as an employee - a business, hoping to keep it 'AFLOAT' and not to 'DRIFT OFF COURSE', I'm also the chief purser (I hope that right) as I deal with the companies funds etc, keeping the 'CAPTAIN' on course as he appears to be related to that of the titanic the way he spends. %) %) %) %)
Looks like a clone of the Joysway Dragonforce with better sails.
If there are three deck eyes together under the jib, just open the after end of the after eye,
put a loop in the jib boom tie off and thread it through the first two eyes and loop it over the
after one.
Rig changing becomes a doddle.
Ned
Apologies & it looks like I must eat my hat :embarrassed: ....courtesy of WIKI........Derek {-)
"The African Queen is well-stocked with tinned food, and carries a cargo of two hundredweight of blasting gelignite. It also holds two large tanks of oxygen and hydrogen"
After 3 years collecting dust and cobwebs in the attic my 'Queen' is undergoing a small refit. Planking totally replaced, new motor and electrics fitted, including steam-whistle. New (fake) boiler, similar to that in the film is undergoing construction with the Nemo - type smoke generator involving joss-sticks, Aye! :-))Not bad smoke generation from 2 incense sticks. 20mph wind outside made it smoke even better! :-))

Needed to make loads of little Vac-Formed parts, so decided to build a Mini Vac FormerNow, that's something I've often thought about but never got around to doing - perhaps sometime early in the New Year....
Cheers.Ron.
Needed to make loads of little Vac-Formed parts, so decided to build a Mini Vac Former, only 4 inch square with a pull depth of 2 inches, Different, but fun, should be a handy gadget for the model room. Uses a hot air gun to soften the plastic and a good old workshop Henry vacuum cleaner for the 'Suck'.. But has a lift up Platten to increase the depth of mouldings, so good for lifeboats, cowlings, window frames and millions of other bits.
Cheers.Ron.
I am not sure who put the Photo on my post ( Not me ) but if you have some more shots of this one, can I use them please.

I had Brickplayer (see what they did there). This would have been in the late 50s (58/9). It had real bricks and a little metal trowel. The 'cement' was akin to wallpaper paste. The slight difference from your's BFSMP was that the roofs were thick embossed cardboard with separate ridge pieces. The doors and windows were plastic. The buildings were to the scale of 0 gauge trains. When you wanted to reclaim your bricks you just submerged the building in cold water and the whole thing would fall slowly apart.
Yes that's it. I'd forgotten the quasi blueprint plans. The bricks in mine though were brick red not neutral pale brown (in fact those look like they could be wood but are probably clay.)
I thought it worthwhile to see if we could resurrect this thread, and since I have mentioned my s-l-o-w build of Legend Model Boats' Miss Severn a couple of times elsewhere, here is where I am up to now. A good kit, attractive subject (IMHO) if a little pricy buying direct from the US. That's my excuse for the snail's pace - I don't want to mess it up!

So what are you:
1. Building at the Moment?
2. Planning to finish soon?
3. Hope to finish this year?
1....Refurbishing a MH&B Seekadette bought as a pigs ear off E-bay for £350
2....Almost finished a Customs Cutter Sentinel bought as a part started, half kit off E-bay for coppers.... contacted Model Slipway to purchase the fittings for it and they were most helpful.
Working at the Kitchen table as its too nippy in the shed..... I'm allowed to display the Seekadette on a long narrow console table even though its not finished.... must be good !

It shouldn’t take much more than 4-6 weeks or so now to finish this project, then I have an exciting new project which is a pair of scratch built CMB’s from ww1 then the ww2 variant, working only from the original redrawn plans.

There's always a nice buzz of anticipation when the building board is got ready for the next project. Mine needed a good rub down and a coat of paint or two to get rid of all the old blobs of glue, pencilled markings and reminders to self, scratches and gouges. Now all ready to go. Can you tell what it is yet? :}
No? Well, not many clues I admit. I am embarking on a build of this -
(https://modelboatmayhemimages.co.uk/images/2023/02/23/Kit-box.jpg)
The boat name shown on the box says "Quick'n'Easy" but I don't think this build will be either - but all the materials and instructions are very good quality, so if I slip up I can only blame myself. Looking forward to the challenge!
