Title: Irvine 61R (rear exhaust) marine engine?
Post by: OMRA117 on September 09, 2008, 12:31:30 pm
Hi all,
Does anyone know anything about this engine, specs or whatever?
What advantage does the rear exhaust give? Is it higher reving or more powerfull?
It's the older silver body with plastic carb.
Just acquired one off ebay as a possible project, if not for spares.
Any info would be much appreciated.

The rear exhaust allows for easier porting to the silencer / tuned pipe and the "R" I'm sure refers to "Race".
You may find you have problems with the plastic carb in that they are easily distorted with the grub screws and cause air leaks.
