Since I have been doing electric on land stuff am finding it hard get my head round things the biggest problem is motors and amps I am so used to measuring motors in turns but marine stuff is all measures in amps where do I need to put my multimetre on and witch prongs plug in so it measures the amps the motor is putting out so I can get the correct speed controller.

hi,
black lead to the middle socket, red lead to the left socket, turn the selector clockwise till it points at 10a. This will give you amps up to a maximum of 10 amps.
connections: black lead on positive battery terminal, red lead on the wire that normally connects to the battery positve, and turn on, read the amps.
note: when reading resistance make sure the red lead is in the right socket and touch the leads together before using them, you will get a zero resistance, this proves the unit is working, then connect to the thingy you want to test resistance in.
