Title: Yet another new boat....
Post by: andyn on September 28, 2008, 05:12:59 pm
Little Kyosho Viper with a .12 engine in it, length 24in width 9in.

Looks like a little version of Ian's Manta. No doubt Greg will want to put some supersonic engine with a tuned pipe in it...

Should go well, came with engine and fuel tank, just needed some radio gear and an hours work. £25 paid O0

Running photos to follow...

I had a .12 Viper many years back..... what a crap engine!!
20 minutes of starting for every 5 minutes of running.
In the end I push the stand through the bottom of the hull while holding it down and trying in vain to get the engine going!  >>:-(

Hope you engine is better!  O0

You mean you went out in the rain Andy?? I took a look out of the window at 7.45am and got back into bed. NO BOATING FOR ME TODAY.  Glad to here you got it up and running today. As for It's going to out run the Makara? Well i don't think I will panic just yet.
I am thinking about next years boat. Her indoors has given me a green light. Got the engine, Need a 2.4 futaba RX and loads of hardware. Still it will keep me busy over the winter making and testing.

Yupp i went out in the rain, so did a couple of others

Greg has 2 new boats, ones not all that spectacular, a Z class, but the other is spectacular. I'm not revealing what it is, you'll see for yourself, but its all carbon, has the new Spektrum DX5e in it, is very very very very fast, and one of the guys at the club will have the hump about it...

A video will follow Martin, as soon as i get a new prop. Was a bit too dark to take pics or a video sunday, it was well and truly slooshing it down...  The prop broke on the stand but we ran it anyway as we didnt know till afterwards. Greg has the drive dog at the moment because the thread is strange.
Turns in less than the space of a sixpence and sits very level even in tight turns.

The first thing Greg said about it, as predicted, was "I wonder how to get a tuned pipe in there" O0

Andy
You have more boats then a second hand boat yard? It would be great if you could get some of them to run now and then.  Your new Viper boat needs a bit of work before you start on the other boats.
Andy you are getting the reputation of being Stevenage model boat dump!!!!!
TRY FINISHING JUST ONE OFF THEM OFF. {-) %% :D :} :-)) <*< <*< <*< <*< <*< <*< <*<

Ok Andy. Bring them down on Sunday? They must 1 Floot 2 Move. 3 stay on top of the water moving  under it's own power for longer then 30 sec.

I could bring the hellcat, which works perfectly, but I will have this new cat of mine.

And the Viper did work very well, it just wasn't all that fast...

Ah yes the Viper? is that the one with the lose engine mounts???
Go for it Andy. See you Sunday if not before.

Loose mounts are now all sorted, will fit prop adapapter so I can run X series props instead of those strange ones.

The damage on the bottom of the cat is sorted, filled it with waterproof sanding sealer and some P38

I'll be up tomorow, is it possible I could nab those WC coils off you for the perkasa if you don't need them?

Andy :-))

I can let go of the controls completely with the viper and it goes in a dead straight line revving happily.

The one I beat you with ok2 is having overheating troubles at the moment with its new battery.

Goes like a greased ferret on crack though...

I will have a look for the WC coil. If I can find it ,I only have one.  Not sure if I'm going to make it time for 3 pm tomo as got to go to South London.
Doesn't Barry have any coils??
Found it. It look long enough to cut it in two. one for each motor.

Lovely stuff cheers

Did ask in barrys but he doesnt have that kind of stuff, which is a shame because he does have 2 model clubs quite locally

If I tryed to make one myself it would probably just kink.

Bending small bore pipe is easy. If you fill the inside of the tube with table salt. Then it can't kink when you bend it round. When you have done wash the salt out with water. Easy life.

Ahaaa yes yet another new boat (as per the title)

Got all kit for it except propshaft, rudder and some waterproof tape.

Will be finished probably before the other boat I'm currently building, so expect it up soon.

It's going to have a 7800kv brushless on 11.1v, so potential unloaded speed of 86,580rpm!

I have your DVD, I'll bring it to the lake wednesday and thursday, whichever day you can make it.

We could investigate as to the possibilty of us having a stall next year, we could ask around the club if we could borrow some boats for the weekend, I'm up for it if we want to do it.

I was there for about 4 1/2 hours because my dad went off to birmingham and wouldnt pick me up till 4:30 Never mind, Phil kept me company...

I didn't do the paint job no, would like to say I did but that would be a lie, nice int it?
