Post by: 6705russell on October 18, 2008, 02:50:03 pm
Hi all,

Just a few pictures of my sub, a Sheerline model, excellent quality , tested the WTC last night and all went well with no leaks, started to spray the primer today and and made a start on some detailing with the figures coming first.

Thats looks like its coming along nicely. did you cut out the slot in the top deck as well? Are you too far off to bring it down to the next Brockwell Lido Sub run in a couple of weeks?

Mankster,

Yes all slots were cut with a series of holes using a 1/16 drill and then filed out with a needle file.  Yes my hands hurt after!

Too far off Brockwell i,m afraid.

The sub is now sprayed hopefully with the correct RAL colours, next step is off to the swimming pool to do the ballast tests and try to trim it.  :-))

I have fitted a tyre valve to the front of the dive unit ( Sheerlines expert advice) and added some pressure inside the tank, whilst carrying out the bath test this showed up a small leak on one of the motor seals which i forgot to tighten properly, the sub build was excellent with plenty advice from Chris at Sheerline who was more than helpful and always a phone call away. (Thanks Chris)

Looking good. Is that paint from a spray can or airbrush? I am looking a for a source of RAL colours out of a spray can.

Hi folks,

Neil, yeh a real glutton for punishment, took me 16 hours to drill and needle file all the slots out! >:-o    I havent had a go at the Engle until this weekend when i have a bit more time to heat the hull up.

Mankster, the colours are from spray cans, pm me your e-mail and i can send you some info through.
