Post by: Shipmate60 on October 29, 2008, 11:33:12 pm
Just to let you all know that the MSN virus that was about a while ago is back.
When you open messenger a Zip file is sent to your messenger.
DO NOT OPEN IT.
This like the last one isnt a hoax, I have seen it twice tonight.

I don't know if its the same one you're talking about, but I picked one up last week call  PAK GENER.006. My protection quartantined it, but can't get rid of it. Apparently its a Trojan, so don't know what'll happen.

Have you ever been on the avforums?  They are a great place to ask about this kind of stuff.  They mite be able to help get rid of a trojan.

In saying that though, theres alot of very clever people on here who will probably be able to help :-)

Well I got Windows XP Service Pack 3 and loaded and found out that Windows then would not let me connect to the internet,   >>:-( >>:-(  once I uninstalled it everything was back to normal. And this mess came from Micro Soft <*< <*< <*<

Andre

If you have Zone Alarm as your firewall, a short time ago Microsoft sent out an update which stopped Zone Alarm working. Zone Alarm were aware of the update but had not sent out their fix for it. Service packs usually consist of all the updates that have been available in one download, if you did not download the last update then the service pack will include it.

There was a thread on here regarding this problem

Hope that makes sense

Brian

My daughters opened a file from MSN and it turned out it hijacked the computer(s) in the house and was a spam bot or something ,the first I knew about it was when I got a letter from my ISP stating there was a complaint about unso;icited spam originating from our IP address so they proceeded to suspend our service till the computers in the house were reformatted and then allowed back on so now I refuse to let the little blighters have MSN now because of it and boy am I in the bad books lol
