David,
1/48 Scale is only about 18 inches long.
Sirmar do a 1/24 at about 3 feet long.

Mine was made from a Sirmar models range your better off with a bigger tug as they don't bob about in the water like small boats.

Right then if I am right in thinking what you have seen at shows is the Vic Smeed designed Tiddler Tug which is a small version of the Tid and is around 20inches long.

Blimey, that takes me back, Tiddler was my first scratchbuild, a very nice "little" model and easy to build. I never motorised it though I did fit the propshaft & rudder so I could still give it a go. I'll have to dig it out, see what kind of nick it's in & give it a bit of spit & polish

Mobile Marine Models do a TID Tug at 1.32 scale, and Scale Hobbies do one at 1.25

Thanks very much for your help,it is 1/48 scale i'm looking for,Stavros could be right, though making enquiries at Warwick, someone suggested it was an old Lesro kit,and that the kit had passed through a few hands.
