Title: Deans Marine Bow Thruster
Post by: chipchase on November 24, 2008, 09:38:27 am
Hi all.
I am thinking about fitting a bow thruster into my next build, has anyone fitted one of the new ones supplied by Deans Marine. I have fitted bow thrusters before but only been able to acquire the paddle type which I had to modify to give it some strength.  Any info on the quality of the new one from Deans would be appreciated.

I have fitted the same unit, only it had paddles (impellor) rather than propellors and it worked just great. It was from the shop in the south west though( can't remember the name) and was the smallest tube diameter...pushed a 43" semi displacement hull round, no bother. :-))

  ... Hi Guys...

Chipchase...Is that one of the Bow Thrusters made by Raboesch ?...

I fitted one in a Modern Tug-Towing Tug that I built but it cut out all the time...
After reading the Packaging & Instructions again I realised that it shouldn,t be used for Long Periods...

Check this out before Fitting....I find that you need your Bow Thruster Quite a lot when Tug-Towing so it was really useless & was eventually removed again & Replaced...It was my own fault for not reading the insrtructions properly before fitting...

I,m not saying that the Bow Thruster is Rubbish but No Use in a Working Boat....

...Best Regards...Norry...

Hi norry was it the 108-30 Bow Thruster with the twin props that you had the bother with.
