Do any of you chaps own a Robbe Odin? I have seen pictures of one towing a rowboat with two kids on board. Would any of you recommend the Odin? I am not a beginer, but possibly thinking about buying one later after i have finished my current builds. The only thing i'm not sure of is it's slightly toy'ish look!

I have an Odin has been known to pull three people in a rowing boat bigest drawback to it is it's weight bit of a "xxxxx" to get in and out of the water when you are getting on in years , was good to build and sails well in all very pleased ::) ::)

On of our members has on and is allways towing someone who has broken down!!! as far as towing I can vouch that I have seen a rowing boat been towed let alone a pleasure steamer approx 40foot been pushed around it's mooring at LLanberis lake, downside is weight and also the sheer cost of getting everything to work as you know Robbie are not cheap.if you are worried about weight easy put batts in when on the water!!

Hiya Mate,
If you would be kind enough to listen to a professional model tug builder I advise as follows.........1)Ditch the recommendations about motors by robbe, and give Brian a ring at Mobile Marine Models.Ask him for his big, meaty fan motor(about £21.00)
Then get onto Propshop and ask for a 90.00mm 5 blade prop. Then you will pull the crap out of anything on the water! ;D
Kind regards and best wishes

you want a robbie 1000 and a 90mm prop iv know a odin to pull a 1 1/2 ton hurley silhouette (a small yacht) on a calm esturay at a slow speed and robbie 1000 never know any to have a problem

If you would be kind enough to listen to a professional model tug builder
How do you become a professional model tug builder.?

Or maybe it's because it will pull the crap out of anything...

Get hold of a copy of "The Tug Boat Book" Edited by Chris Jackson published by Traplet. ISBN 1-900371-13-8 at £9.95.
There are 10 pages of pics. and text about building the "Odin".
Roger in France.
(P.S. Pity I didn't secure the pump you had for sale on E-Bay!)

I agree with Toviking, Bryans motors are powerful and economical on battery power, I allways fit them in my boats.
