Title: POWER FOR LESRO ARROW - and DRIVERS
Post by: Rouget on November 25, 2008, 09:29:22 pm
Just back to building after 30 year lay-off and things have changed a bit! Am building a wooden Lesro Arrow with my son and have got to the motor stage. I am told a 600 motor on 7.2v would be ideal and i can get one for a reasonable price. The ESC is what is confusing me. My local shop says 40A at a cost of about £50 which suddenly doubles the cost of the project. What could I get away with and what should I expect to pay? What is the difference between brushed and brushless and can a brushless ESC run a brushed motor?Have looked at ebay and seen items which have been discussed on this forum mostly coming from Hong Kong or China - would they be good enough?
Also I am looking for a couple of drivers at about 1:18th scale - any ideas or suppliers would be appreciated.

Cheers
Jimbob

If you can use a 540 motor, then a £16.99 Tamiya TEU-101BK from http://www.goldstarstockists.com/ (http://www.goldstarstockists.com/) (Time Tunnel Models in Stevenage) will do it just fine.

As for people, have a look round the model shops online, someones bound to have them.

How long is the Lesro Arrow?
540 / Speed600 sound a bit on the small size...

Hanging around with Andy ???? well something had to rub of on me didn't it???
The Hydro is comming along slowly but surely. Between Andy and I we are going to try and put a OMRA Z class boat together for our OMRA day here at Sunny Stevenage on May 3rd next year. My engine radio etc + money and Andy has put in the hull and some hardware. Still its beats getting bored at Christmas?

Bill
I don't want to spoil your Christmas activities but if you look CLOSELY at the Z class rules, the engine limit is 2.1cc not 25.4cc so you wont be able to use your old Zen engine after all  {-) {-) {-) {-)
