Title: Anymore information on "Hibernia"?
Post by: IRI5HJ4CK on November 28, 2008, 07:45:59 am
Hi everyone,

I recently bought a tug boat called Hibernia, I've been looking on the internet for images and information and I have found pieces here and there, However, I wanted to ask, does anyone else know any more information about her? Or do you have any picture's of her, as she is now, or as she was in the past? The model of Hibernia carries the Alexandra Towing flags.

Here's some picture's of her:

She is the sister ship of the tug "Moorcock".
Obvious difference between them (at least as they were) is that Moorcock doesn't (didn't)  have the fire fighting platform above the bridge.

Plans were drawn by O.Smith and ran in the Model Engineer. The drawings are available from MAP.

A commercial hull is available from Waverley Models.

I've only seen one model of this in a show, built by a member of Margram (spelling?) club. He adapted the hull to build a model of a Scotish Tug.

Nice looking model you have there.

There is a nice web site, I think it is called thames tugs, lovely pics of the tugs when she was watkins, there is good photos of all the Sun tugs too. The site has a notice board for people wanting info and getting in touch with old work mates.
