Is Cascamite waterproof?
Has anyone used contact adhesive below the waterline?
If yes, did you have any problems with it?

Cascamite is waterproof however would suggest using an alfactic white glue which both cheaper to buy and easier to use. This is available at most timber yards, at least in the UK, and major DIY chains as well I expect.

Thanks for the quick response LB.
I have cascamite, and have been unable to find alypahtic glue here (China). So I am trying to work with what I have at hand.

It always was Tiger, mix a drop of Meths in amongst, it gets rid of the air bubbles.

Dad (now 90) built me a couple of models in the 50's using cascamite. They are still around although not been sailed recently. Never had a leak or any other strength problem.

I have used Contact Cement on several boats below the water. They were double planked boats and the top plank was held in place with Contact Cement. I applied cement to the base plank and the top plank, let dry for 30 seconds and then put the top plank in place. Place it carefully because you won't be able to move the plank. Remove any excess cement. The hull was then covered with 2 oz fiberglass material and finished with polyurethane, sanded and polished.
