Dunno how true the words are.

Youtube seems to be blocked again in China at the moment.

You want a truly classic song? The Floyd's "Shine on, you crazy diamond"...I got married to the guitar intro of that song.

Music is funny. It somehow defines our personal lives and also the times we live in. Some never loose their point despite how long they've been out. One I believe that follows this is Buffalo Springfield classic, :Something Happening here":

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=vJV44YV69z0&feature=related

This is especially true in the US. Strangely, one of this band, Neil Young, comes from a village ten minutes down the road from where I live now. This song is now fourty years old.

Add to that, proof that times never change even after 45 years. Barry McGuire's "eve of Destruction" is just as valid today as when it was written.

 http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=D8SfiCnwF28

Funny, and sad, how some things never change.

Sniff sniff...the old eyes were misting over at the end of that. Wonderful..
I've seen the Floyd eighteen times and that piece of music never fails to raise the hairs on the back of my neck...inspirational stuff.

... the first one was edited when my grandfather died in an accident and I tried to rescue him. When we drove home from the hospital this song was running on the radio. I was age 11 and had no idea about the lyrics. It took me days to find them and translate with a dictionary.Since that day I loved that song...

So many classics out there.....

This, I think, is a modern one:

One for the warship boys:

One of the classic comic songs - I think that Jasper Carrot overcooks it, but I couldn't find Jake Thakeray singing it:

Speaking of BTO, go back to Randy Bachmann's roots with the Guess Who., a very popular Canadian group. One song of their's that will still bring the house down , here, is "American Woman". If you've never listened to it, it can be well worth it, see if you don't agree.
Randy Bachmann and Burton Cummings still tour regularly. Bachmann is doing a lot of work in jazz now including putting out CD's on same.

Bob

No problem. Bachmann and Cummings were the group's writers. Bachmann left the group in the early seventies when he and Cummings had a falling out. Bachmann ended up in the hospital due to some gastro intestinal problem while on tour in the States. I guess Cummings thought he was trying to pull a fast one and the two fell out. Bachmann went with Turner to form BTO.......a very powerful group.
During the later part of the nineties Bachmann and Cummings got back together again and the original members of the Guess Who put on a tremendous cross Canada tour , in the early 2K that was an absolute sell out in every city. Since the drummer owned the rights to the Guess Who name, Bachmann and Cummings have since teamed up together under Bachmann - Cummings and produced new stuff in a variety of generes. Still a very powerful musical pair.
