So what would you pay for a scratch built Springer? hmmmmmm?. {:-{

Personally? Nothing I'm afraid :((, I've never bought a completed model & have no intention of ever doing so but that's because 90% of the enjoyment I get from the hobby is in the building O0. I fully understand why some people may like to buy finished models though.
Still $200 seems a bit steep for what's on offer, if the guy sells it for that i might consider flogging mine .......................... if it ever gets finished :o

.. and some would spend $300 - $400 on an (almost) RTR so i think its quite reasonable at $200.
At least its wood and not plastic..
-
He seemed to have done a very nice job on the fit an finish, so maybe it is not that far out of line.

Let's say there's $75 in materials.
And it took him a week to build the boat...
That would be a whopping £9 a day for labor.
Absolutely unreasonable... Can't imagine what he's thinking.
{-)

Sorry, the idea of spending £130 pounds on it and getting zero satisfaction from the build just doesn't appeal to me, as I said, good luck to the guy :-))

$75? Mine is made from an old wardrobe door {-)

£14 a day for work is even more unreasonable.. ok2

Umi, that is why I quit building models for other people they seem to think that I should do this for free.
Andre,
Over yonder in Portland Oregon,
PS When are we going to meet to go to the pond with Toesup?

True, if I charged a fair hourly rate for my models (not that I've ever sold one) they'd be worth millions (well I am a slow builder) O0
Anyhow, if you think it's worth $200 why don't you bid? ;)
-
Unsold, I wonder why {:-{

When it warms up Andre!.. 22.2 degrees F here last night
Anyhow, if you think it's worth $200 why don't you bid? ;)
Cos i have 7 (or is it 8 {:-{ ) Springers already.. ;D
-
I have two Springers on the building boards and one on the drawing board, a Mt. Washington, a Dumas Typhoon, one sailing yacht and a submarine already. If I brought one boat in to the house SWMBO >:-o would have a complete and total fit >>:-( <*< >>:-( <*< . By the way this is just the water craft we will not discuss the aircraft and trains (N, HO, S, On30, O two rail) that I have hanging around. O0

I would say that the boat is worth $200, but
none of us would pay that much for a springer.
ok2

O0 I think that's exactly what I've been trying to say, also Worth & value are 2 distinctive things

Hobbyists of all kinds do often have a rather inflated view of the value of their time. Another thread on here points out that there are 40 million chinese with an incomeof $250. If only they could sell them I'm sure they would be happy to turn out springers at a tenner a throw.

Looks nice,
I personaly do not like the really large access hole, what ever superstructure you build is going to be big, also the knees do not look right to me.
