Post by: Euan Galloway on December 15, 2008, 09:53:23 pm
Hello,
I have just spent the last few days cleaning, painting and refurbishing a lovely late 1970s graupner Collie for my 5 year old daughter to sail while us boys speed around with our fast electrics. The model was found on e bay and came complete with an early futaba sail winch. We managed to sail her today on a small part of the pond that was not solid? and went really well Katie did really well on her first attempt.I have attached a couple of photos .
cheers Euan. ps as a non yachting person i must admit i really enjoyed my first wind powered jaunt roll on the summer???

Hi Euan,
I've still got the Mk 1 version which I bought in 1978. They sail very well in light winds.
Think I'll have to get mine out again next year. The only mod I made was to make a set of nylon sails, as the sails supplied were not the best.
PS the sails on yours look like they were an upgrade, as was the keel. Making yours a Mk 2
