Title: Are these plans suitable for a Dickie Hull?
Post by: Weeds on December 27, 2008, 05:21:25 am
Hi,

I just want to use Dickie hull to build another boat on top - but i'm new to this and a lazy builder.  Are these plans suitable to build on a Dickie hull? Will it look good or will it look crappy?

Jeff there's absolutely no reason it wouldn't work, whatever you see in your mind can be achieved.
Is the Puffer length on the plan similar to the Dicky Tugs ?  You may need to change the bulwark shape at the stern.

Personally i think it would look great as a Puffer, but more importantly what do you think ?

Damien.

Are you in the States Weeds?
they are cheap enough on ebay ... unless you want to scratch build!

Hi Jeff:
I'm with Damien on this one :-))
You may have to remove all the Bulwarks, (not all that difficult, as they are one molding), and just use the Seaport Hull only though; to achieve an accurate profile.

...Cheers...

Sounds like they are ripping people off. $98 USD for a $55 Dickie tug? wow, what a profit margin.
