Not altogether sure that's very funny considering the number of sailors that were killed or drowned on the original.

I can see where you are comming from CB, but to be honest about it, what is the difference between that and this; http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=3401.0
Is it because he did it in the name of entertainment, whereas the Model waship combat group are reinacting important historical naval battles. or just having fun blasting the c#¤p out of each others ships?
And yes I do have respect for the men that gave their lives for their country.

Personally, I just fail to see the point of it all.. {:-{

Exactly, when you are a kid you enjoy that sort of thing - it comes with being a kid. When middle aged people do it it does make you wonder a bit.

What a great program and very intersting , especialy about meccano i remember my first set that was bought for me when i was about ten for xmas , i spent the entire day building the tower crane and then nicking the batterys from the radio to opperate it , fantastic .
As for destroying airfix models in whatever way and whichever model it was i thought of myself at the time as an expert , wheather it was sticking a rocket up the back of a jet ,or launching a warship onto the river with a crow scarer in it's hold and a few good shots from my BB gun ,thats what us kids did but there was no disrespect for anyone connected with these ships,planes etc , it was all fun and part of growing up just as the model warship combat group do today .
Some people like to live their youth again .

Before you know it, we'll be stopping kids playing with model soldiers & toy guns just in case somebody gets offended!

May I please remind everyone that is is a large lump of plastic that he or the BBC bought for the sole purpose of shooting it with a rifle.
IT'S A BIT OF PLASTIC LIGHTEN UP!
And yes what an excellent show. He is very funny even in his sillyness and his books are even better.

We had our own air rifles when we were kids and most kits ended up at the top of the garden as targets!
Ah...those were the days :}
