Title: Miss Budweiser Hydroplane circa 1969

Heres one I finished back end of 2008. Scratch built using original drawings/plans/ photos of the real boat in the hydroplane museum in Seattle USA.

Powered by a Brushless motor on 16 cells. She flies.  Its exact scale.

I forgot to mention that the Rolls Royce engine started life as a lump of foam.  The electric motor is hidden underneath.

Either way, with direct exhaust, these guys must have been a bit deaf.

Thanks for the kind comments.   It is a Merlin engine.  The boat is 48 icnhes long.   1/8th scale.

 I got the plans from ASTEC models. They were produced by Roger Newton of Newton marine in the states. He was a famous model boater and restorer of the full size boats including Slo Mo Shun to name but one. Sadly Roger died in 2007 just after supplying me with a ton of photos he took of the boat in the Seattle Hydroplane museum.   ASTEC has the plans available I think.

Nice boat Ernie ,Roger is a big loss to anyone who loves hydros although he left us a great legacy in his plans.His son now produces them in his memory i believe,i think Roger died just last year August 2008,i have a video here from the 2008 winter nats in orlando and hes seen in there launching his beautifull model of the miss bardahl the black and yellow checked one.His son was driving and won a cpl of races i believe maybe more.You have done  a fantastic job on that boat,i think ive seen it somewhere else before too.A good friend of mine Dave Weagle also builds using Rogers plans hes your side of the pond too.

Like all your models that I have so far seen pics of this is yet another testament of your modelling expertise.

This certainly is a lovely piece of workmanship and something that I shall aspire to when I begin my next project which is a similar subject (Miss Thriftway)

I trust it 'flies' as good as it looks.

Congratulations on a really super model.
