Title: Prop Size
Post by: john54 on January 24, 2009, 05:07:27 pm
{:-{  just a quick question I am a bit confused about the prop size of my boat it reads d42xp1.4 (dog drive)
I need to go up a size because of over revving so has anybody got any ideas? Am I right in thinking that 42 is the diameter xp is the pitch & 1.4 is the shaft size?
Also does anybody know where I can source props of this type.
Thanking you in anticipation :-)
John

Hi John
You are right in that the 42 is probably 42mm diam, the 1.4 refers to the diam/pitch ratio which is the normal one for racing deep v's, the 1.2 being a 'sports' ratio and the 1.6 ratio being for hydros and riggers.
The shaft is likely to be 3/16".  You have probably got the equivalent to an X442 with the next size in that series being X445.

Without a picture, I'm only guessing.
