Title: How do you siimulate rivets on a wood hull

I have tried several methods of simulating rivets , the one that worked was using a 'stitch' marker wheel on the back of card . That worked but on window frames . Another was using drops of white glue . Again on window frames . More difficult to get right . and if you don't get it right , it looks terrible.
         My problem is its a hull about 25" long . has riveted hull AND superstructure. Plastic card is not suitable , litho plate would sink the boat and pin heads are too large . Besides the thought of cutting the heads off 2000 odd pins is mind boggling. spacing of rivets is about 3/16" to 1/4". NOT flush rivets , the good old fashioned round head type.
         Any suggestions welcomed except rude ones !

If the stitch marker works ok on paper/card, then you could plate up the hull in cartridge paper (rivets added before sticking them on) and, once done, apply coats of G4 resin.

The G4/paper finish is as tough as old boots.

Same thing applies to plates made up from Plasticard sufficiently thin to make impressions with the wheel.
