Absolutely fantastic John.

Following you clear and concise builds for me, is like serving a modelling apprenticeship.

i have done the beginners build, I am part way through the Cervia - as you know due to my constant emails and now I know what the next build will be.

I doubt you will realise just how great a help you have been - very many thanks John.

She had a sister-ship called the George Spashett
http://www.trawlerphotos.co.uk/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=48053
Which had an interesting life and would give anyone an opportunity to change the plans slightly.
She became the Golden Promise FR186 , converted into a port/starboard side trawler and had a whaleback fitted. Went to South Africa in 1971-72 to teach them how to trawl but it wasn't a success. She was left down there for a few years but the family that owned her went back down for her to bring her back when she was renamed Magnificent PD250 and converted into a seine net vessel

Finally scuttled by as a diving wreck off Fort William about 10 years ago

Very nice John.

Nice tidy workroom.

Now you have finished that you can come down and give me a hand with mine.

I've just gone down with a stinking cold which is going to slow me up again.  >>:-(

A bit late in the day but would just like to say  - A Lovely model and a stunning build log. It brings back some good memories as I began my working life at Richards as an apprentice welder but on the ancilliary/repair side of the yard.

Although that was ten years after the Henrietta, George (and Frederick) were built they were still rivetting the hulls and some of the superstructure too but welding was gradually taking over.

Spent many an hour down Lowestoft docks on repair work and remember these boats very well, out of so many they had a particularly nice shape and had lots of character. Welded up quite a few trawl winches too!

I hope your model sails as well as she looks. Congratulations an a superb piece of work all round.

Regards - Ramon

Hi there Ramon, thank you very much for the comments on the build.   I do wish I had known you were working at the yards - it would have helped me when I was first setting off building this model - but that is the way it goes  :-) .    No doubt when I put the model in the water (when the weather improves) will post a few pictures on the forum.  :-)) :-)) :-))

John,

As with Ramon this is a bit late in the day but truth is, I have only just seen this build.
Very detailed instructions for a wonderful trawler, and is there a place on this site where you have it in the water and are you building another boat as detailed as this one?
Regards,

Ron. :-))

You have done me proud John, only other model I have seen to my plan of the drifter was built by a lad in Argentina!

hi there

an unexpected trip to the lake with the better half tonight - went to Roker Lake, Sunderland - and, as you can see the dreaded green algae is working its magic on the water - so just to prove to Dicky that the fishing trawler does sail - and I do remember to take me camera every now and then, just when you have an extra pair of hands with ya - it makes life easier.  :-)) :-))
