That's right Richard, taken whilst slumbering under the hot sun with a selection of ice cold beers to hand next to the pool in a hammock slung between 2 palm trees during the moments of peace between the massages, dips in the pool and jacuzzi and trips to the sauna, I hope you appreciate them seeing as I worked so hard to provide them for your viewing pleasure {-)

Most of those pics show the old destroyer pens (now much built over), They looked so much nicer before the modern sheds were plonked on them. Another part of my life gone away. Sad. BY.

Erm a slight exaggeration me thinks!! I was in Gib on Wednesday, without a camera I might add, and it was damned cold and windy.......Still it does get the Brits going!!
There did seem to be far more ships about than normal and I really wish I had taken my camera. I will do next time.....honest

I was in a meeting (getting bored) so i kept edging towards the window to have a look at her....
Out there again in a couple of weeks so will try and do better with my camera :embarrassed:

Interesting time when the harbour was being filled for the new blocks of flats (87/88). The filler material was dredged off the SE corner of the rock (Europa Point). Unfortunately, this was exactly the place where a whole load of pre WWII munitions had been dumped but not recorded or the records lost. Fortunately, none detonated during the dredging and were isolated when the dredgers off loaded. The EOD boys were kept busy for a couple of weeks disposing of the stuff.
As the flats were to have underground car parks I always thought it would have been 'interesting' if someone bumped the wall where a metal object was sticking out. (Just my warped humour I suppose)
The near sting in the tail was that the EOD boys thought they would keep an inert item for their crewroom. They also wanted to cut it open. Away they went with vice and hacksaw when the thing started to drip what smelt like HE. Upon further research they found that weapon markings had changed before WWII and what was now training round markings meant something entirely different then.
