Post by: HULLTOM on March 17, 2009, 09:11:20 pm
Has anyone else built this model? Going to have a go at one myself after much deliberation. Does the model come with a stand at all? Hope someone has info on this, cheers :)

Yes it was very straightforward to make, took a little while to make because I had to find some suitable propshafts and props, but StemboatPhil sorted me out with those. The battery I used brings it down to the scale waterline with no ballast needed. Doesn't like big waves, stays perfectly stable in them but as the back deck isn't glued on, water comes over the bulwarks and floods into the hull. Used the kit rudders, which provide ample steering, but needed to flood the rear of the hull around them with silicon grease to stop water ingress. Is actually the most stable boat I have.

On that setup, it aquaplanes %) You do have a throttle stick for a reason though...
