Title: Electric motors for an Imara
Post by: 787Eng on March 28, 2009, 05:50:12 pm
I,m looking for some advice on what is the motors of choice for a twin screw Imara.
Current I'm looking at a Graupner 900BB or the Mobile Marine T12 motors. Power source is 12V 17Ah.

The Imara will do a little bit of towing from time to time but will be mainly cruising the clubs waters, so scale and slow speed are probably what I'm after.

Help and advice please :-))

Thanks
Mark.

Mark,
The motors NoMustangMark supplys will be suitable for her but only on 6Volts.
As they will be direct drive they will be almost silent if set up correctly. They have very similar performance criteria to the Graupner 900's.
The Deccaperms run about 2750 ish and Marks run on 6 volts free 4000 rpm.
On 12 volts they run at 9000 ish free.
You then have the option of 2 x 6 volt 10 Ah batteries in her 1 for each motor and connected in series for any 12 volt functions.

Mark,

I am not in the least bit surprised at your confusion. Those of us with limited knowledge of the electric wizardry just want to know which motor to put in.
