Here are a few pictures of the progress of my Tsekoa II. Aside from a few things I didnt like and consequently changed, this is an excellent kit. For example, the rudders and shafts are made out of one piece of white metal (just too soft). I did cut off the shafts and replaced them with brass ones. The rudder arms, also white metal, got replaced too. I also added a bow thruster from Raboesch. The instructions and plans are excellent. Working with styrene is a lot of fun and I am looking forward building the crane.
-
I did finish the crane without any problems. Attached are two pictures of it.
cheers

nice work on the crane awvs :-))
-
Thanks dantheman.
The crane, supplied by model slipway, is an atlas model but the original on the Tsekoa is a "Hiab." The two look pretty much the same, so I will make up some "Hiab" decals instead of the supplied atlas logos.

Looking good Wilhelm, nice crane. :-))
-
That crane looks excellent! I found the hiab a bit fiddly on Drumbeat.
I've got MSW's Envoy civvie tug to build when I've finished jobs around the gaff for 'her indoors'!
-
Thanks Richard and justboatonic,
I just had a look at the crane on the Drumbeat and you are right, it looks a little fiddly. The Envoy seems to be a great kit too and I hope you post a couple of pictures when she is done.
Cheers

Beautiful looking crane. What is the scale.
G. George
-
i think its 1:32

Hi ggeorge,
dantheman is right, the scale is 1:32.

Hi Mayhemers,
here is another update and a couple more pics on the progress of the superstructure. As you can see I also finished the stern deck hatch with the attached crane. If I bore you with the pics let me know please.
Happy Easter

Here is another update. I did some work on the superstructure, painted the deck and finished the layout of the speed control with an integrated mixer. Painting the hull is next on the list

Here is another update.
I wanted to paint more on the hull but the weather did not cooperate ( just some primer at the bottom of the hull). So I did more detail work on the superstructure. Today is beautiful and I took some pics outside.

Man, I look at nice builds like this one and wonder why I even bother! Excellent. Cheers.

Simple fix to that, get some pollyfilla (the stuff that comes in a large toothpaste like tube), put some in with a toothpick or lollipop stick, after 10 mins it will be dry. scrape away carefully any excess with a sharp scalpel, then paint. It will absorb the paint pretty quick, so give it two coats.
Looks spectacular O0
-
Thanks guys for the criticism and the tip with pollyfilla, but you are to late, it is fixed already. The closeup pictures with sunlight from the side revealed some of my mistakes.
Cheers
Wilhelm
-
Well whatever you did it worked well O0

It's coming along beautifully. I like that crane. Really intricate.
John

Thanks for the nice comments guys.

Hi Bill, thanks for your kind remarks. Are you working on a model right now?

Hi Mayhemers,
greatand sunny day today. So, I decided to go for a test run despite some detail and touch-up work left to do on the model. I am pretty happy with the way she runs. The stern needs a little extra ballast but the sound module will take care of it. The ESC and mixer are working great. Here are some pictures of todays outing.

Hi Wilhelm,
Can you tell me what size the Raboesch bow thruster was that you used in your Tsekoa? Many thanks.
Bill.

Hi Bill, might be better to PM the OP as this thread is 2 years+ old. Superb looking model though, made by a talented maker.
Si:)
-
Thanks. Will do!
Bill.

AWVS appears to have left the forum. Maybe Wilhelm is on site under a different name. We can only hope.
Ken
-
Thanks Ken. I think he's over in RC Groups. I'll look for him there.
Bill.

Ask him to come back
Ken

Found him Ken! I'll try to drag him back here. Lol. Cheers. :-)
Bill.

Hi all,
I wasn't aware that anybody missed me. :-) I am still a member here, but I haven't built any new model for some time now.
Anyway, Bill contacted me and I try to be a little more active in the MBM forum.
Best to all of you.
Wilhelm
-
Welcome back. Anything in the pipeline ? :-)) :-)) :-))
Ken
-
Hi Ken,
thanks, no, right now there is nothing in the pipeline. I haven't even finished the daughter boat for the SAR's boat Bermpohl. There is just to much other stuff going on. I am still thinking about the "Maggie M" or the "Yorkshireman".
What project are you working on?
Regards
Wilhelm
-
Nice to see you back
Dave
-
Thanks for updating this - I started one of these years ago - this may get it kick started again!
Great looking build - your photos will help.
-
@Dave
thanks.
@Mike
MS produced a great kit (as always) with the Tsekoa II. If you need any detail-pictures let me know.
Regards
Wilhelm
-
My Tsekoa kit should arrive in a week or so, so I'll try to give updates on the project as it progresses. I can only hope though that it will turn out as well as Wilhelms! Cheers.
Bill.

I agree Dave, it's a magnificently detailed model and well worth a look at the build.
It's good to see you back here too Wilhelm O0 Your Tsekoa is a joy to behold :-))
Peter.
-
I did not think it was that long since you have been on here Wilhelm. It is not long since you finished the Fairmont Alpine & you made a lovely job of that one too. Keep it up we need more of your builds on the forum & welcome so back. Mick B.
-
Welcome back Wilhem. Glad to see you're still with us. How'd the winter go up your way, this year?
John
-
Thanks to all for the "welcome back" but I was never really gone, I just took a bigger break from model boat building. {:-{ As I said before, I hope to finish the daughter boat for the "Bermpohl" this summer and look forward to do some nice runs with my current models. :-))
@oldiron
Hi John, we are still waiting for spring to arrive. The snow around the house is a foot high and it is probably the same in your area. I hope everything is fine with you and yours. How is it going with your Happy Hunter?
Kind Regards

Wihelm
I got looking at the Happy Hunter. It needs a bit of TLC on one side of the hull. In the meantime I picked up a Tsekoa kit from an estate, so thinking of yours, I started working on that and I'm also doing a build thread on Caldercraft's Joffre.
We just did a mall show yesterday that was very successful. Some of the lads from Hamilton came up.

Question guys: I know that some of you have added a bow thruster to the Tsekoa kit but did the original vessel actually have one? I didn't see one listed in its specs.. Cheers.
Bill.

Have a look at this

It was moored out at Ocean Sciences at Pat Bay and I managed to get photos a few years ago. Not sure where it is now but going through changes.
-
Yeah thanks Mike. I've seen that refurb pic of the Tsekoa with an obvious bow thruster installed. Still not sure if the 1984 built model had one though. {:-{
-
Hi Bill,
according to my available documentation: the 1984 version of the Tsekoa II was not equipped with a bow thruster.
