Title: Camera for reversing aid on cars
Post by: Brian Roberts on April 10, 2009, 03:09:38 pm
I saw a post the other day about someone who'd installed the camera from a car reversing aid onto his boat.
I can't for the life of me remember who sent it or where it was posted but he did say it worked OK and was surprised at the picture quality.
I don't think the effective range was mentioned, so if someone could fill me in I'd be most grateful.

Thanks Russ but I'm looking for the range of camera to transmitter. The actual unit is just under 50 (in Wrexham anyway)

I have a USB stick player that has an FM transmitter so I can listen to good stuff in the car when going through a radio 1 only area.  The range of these things is variously quoted between 1.5 and 10 metres, good enough for inside a car.  I suspect that the reversing aid will be similarly rated as its intended use is basically in-car.

The April edition of Model Boats magazine has an article by a Terry Burnett and his boat The Oddball. He sails at the Etherow MBC in Stockport.
All he says about it though is that it is a 2.4GHz kit from Maplin Electronics.
Maybe this will help in your search?

Ron.
