Hi Regiment,
We were in Falmouth last week and asked one of the locals what the naval ships in the harbour were.
He said that one was an ex RN fleet auxiliary that had been refurbished and sold to the Brazilian navy. Is this the one you mean - she was certainly flying a Brazilian flag.

A&P Falmouth is currently working on a £29million refit to the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Argus in addition to the work supporting the LSD (A) Bay Class the newest ships in the RFA Flotilla. A&P’s other major contract for the MOD is the refitting of the Brazilian warship Almirante Saboia, the former RFA Sir Bedivere due to sail for Brazil in June this year.

RFA "Argus" is the helicopter training vessel . Operated by the RFA on behalf of the RN. She is also equipped as a hospital ship. A role she distinguished herself in during the late Gulf operations. She replaced RFA "Engadine" which was purpose bullt as a helo training ship, but eventually proved to be too small for the newer generation of aircraft."Argus" was bought by the MoD after the Falklands thing as a Ro-Ro ship and converted quite massively into what you see today. So she's getting on a bit. But given TLC and a fair wad of cash, a good ship can be made to last a long time. BY.
