Hi,
I came across this circuit for an R/C Switch which seems just what I was looking for as I enjoy constucting projects:

What I want to know is will it work for model boats (40MHZ radio) as it is designed for use in model aeroplanes?

I know absolutely nothing about this electrical gubbins but I know a man that does.
Dave at ACTion R/C Electronics makes all of this type of thing.

The circuit itself should work but where do the you get the chip from? It wont matter what frequency you use it on it only draws the signal and power from the receiver.
I have just bought some switchers from ActiveRobots, quite good little units and at the price they are i dont bother making my own.....

It will work with your 40 MHz system, mine did for a few weeks but I may have tried to over load it and so the magic escaped.
Talk to the good man mentioned and also have a look at http://www.pm.keirle.com there may even be some thing there that lights up your building desires

One of PMK's circuits will definitely work - I have several of them in use. The Radio frequency doesn't matter at all. If you need a cheap supply of components, try Bitsbox http://www.bitsbox.co.uk/ = very efficient service, no minimum order, and very reasonable postage.

I have built three of PMK's PSU's for my tugs and have used his ideas on others that I have modified :-))
I am also trying to modify one to fit into what I want it to do, yet I know not of how it works %%

Well, I didn't expect so many replies so quickly! Thanks everyone.
I've visited the pm.keirle.com site and yes, there were several items there that lit up my building desires. If the sites opwned by the PMK who's posted above, then thanks for providing such an excellent resource - I've just printed off half a dozen projects!
I'll probably be going to Action for an ESC when I'm ready to fit one.
