Title: Saw this tonight (Ferry doors open)
Post by: Proteus on June 24, 2009, 11:11:01 pm
I saw this tonight on the Mersey  and it looked like the front ramp was open as it steamed down towards the open sea..I thought they had to be closed these days before they untied

Isn't that just the "cowcatcher" used to assist berthing in some ports, particularly Dover/Calais?

Your properly right Colin, I did not see it front on , we had only just pulled up and it looked like a grill on the picture when I looked at it , but having not seen one for a long time it looked strange, I thought at first it had a bulbous bow because it was the way it was pushing water out of the way, and It was flat calm and I thought that would be under water in the Irish sea in winter, it must fill up with rubbish.
