Title: Charging Batteries
Post by: denbob on November 04, 2006, 10:09:41 am
Help please,
If two 6 cell 7.2 volt Ni Cad type batteries are connected together in parallel to give twice the amps and staying at 7.2 ,volts,

is the battery charger set to charge 12 cells and 14.4 volt  or 6 cell and 7.2 volt or how would I have to set my charger?

Many Thanks Denbob.

You've answered yourself - the voltage remains at 7.2v, so the charger is set at 7.2volts. However, you should only really charge them like this is if they have been used in this configuration and the level of charge will be the same in each pack. If not its better to charge each pack separately.

I agree, charge these batteries separately, otherwise you will get imbalance eventually, or one pack dragging the other down.
