Title: Painting Model Slipway Lifeboat

Hi Guys

I am nearly ready to start painting my Trent Lifeboat hull. I'm just after some advice on how people have painted the waterline on and also the red & yellow lines around the sheer line. Is it best to spray first then back mask, or paint them last, or even use vinyl stickers. All previous models not been scale so have never had to think about this problem.

I used Trimline self adhesive tape for all three colours on my Severn. It went round every corner without a problem but do make  sure that you don't stretch it.

Available from most model shops.

Use vinyl lining from Barrys Model Letters, used it on mine looks excellent.

Barry does a lot of stuff for Model Slipway lifeboats.

Excellent service, next day normally if you order AM.

All the lining and the new correct RNLI lettering etc for mine came from Malcolm Reade.  They do the original BECC decals and lettering and flags.  They also did the depth marks for me for the bow and the stern.  Really looks the part and were great finding the right sizes etc.  Quite reasonable too considering the effort they put in when I ordered the wrong part!
