What was the voltage of the battery supplied with this RTR Tug please ?

Mine was 9.6V battery pack made up of AA batteries.

Any ideas on the current under load of the motors ? The reason i ask is i have some 12v motors ex hair dryers around the same size that draw 150mA under load in my sub chaser in the test tank with a 30mm 3 blade prop.

damien, the current load isnt excessive but the battery is only 600mah, hence small run times

I'll use the original motor then and make up 2 packs of 2800mAh AA Nimh batteries and use them in parrallel.
The 12 volt ex-appliance motors i go on ebay draw 150mA with 30mm 3 blade prop under full load in my SubChaser in the test tank, not sure i'd want to try them with the Seaports larger prop and displacement/weight though.
Time on my hands to work on models as i've quit selling Led's on ebay and handed it all to my son.
Seaport should be on the water soon. Pic's to follow.

The Seaport Tug on decent batteries has more than adequate performance.
My advice to anyone that will listen, is to work out what ballast a boat needs, and then use the weight of batteries to achieve it.
You definitely seem to be heading in the right direction with 2800mah AA multipacks :)

I run mine with the original motor and prop with a 6V 5amp SLA and it runs over scale speed and goes on forever or so it seems.

I made up a 9.6v pack and filled the test tank under full power the motor pulls 2.41A, with way too much force as you say Richard 6v proves over scale speed in the tank it provides mor force than my sub chaser, one battery pack will give me 2 hours at half speed.

damien, 2.41a is perfectly acceptable from the motor thats in the seaport
