I used Piano wire and assorted small brass tubing (hobby shop K&S brand. I brought a set of white metal props from  Pacific front hobbies, I believe made by White Ensign models.
This model will sit on its waterline without any RC gear if you dont reduce weight of the plastic in the kit. I had to get the sanding drum out on the dremel and constantly checking against a strong light thin the hull and deck . I have 3, GWS 12mm diameter motors, a single 10 amp micro aircraft esc and micro servo. It would be a big advantage in my model if the inboard motor was disabled during turns. IMO, don't bother making the small rudders actuate, I did initialy and they have no effect at this scale, I ended up removing them completely and making a larger centre rudder from brass.
Hope this helps
Nick

Hi Nick,i was only going to put 2 x motors in,as i,m not that much of a purist, and, fit a V-tail mixer and use this for the steering,I have contermplated using the the electronic board that comes with those little 1/350 scale warships that are on ebay for a round the £30 mark,i,ve got the "Bismarck"and that runs great, using only the props to turn, therefore eliminating the need for a micro, servo and rudder, which reduces the weight, the existing rudders would be fixed,I,ve got 2 x bicycle spokes 1.5 mm for the shafts
