Is it best to mount the prop. shafts on a scale boat at the same angle as the original boat or is there no advantage?
-
If you want a scale boat mount them at the same angle. :-))
-
But does the angle differ due to the water not being scaled down as the boat is so a model will sit differently to full size with the same angle.
-
No. :-))
-
Is there a reason why you want to use a different angle ?? remember they test full size boats by putting models in test tanks, or they did for the last god knows how long.

The lower the angle the more power will be transmitted as thrust instead of lift... well for sports boats anyway.
Take a look at the angle of the Precedent's model of the Huntsman, it looks about 30o
-
Just try to get the shafts as horizontal as possible, stop worrying about it and enjoy the result.BY.

So in that case if you had the shafts more horizontal would the boat plane as well? or do you still need that certain amount of lift.
-
On a planing type boat the hull shape and strakes will provide the lift.

"not worried just wandered"
Negatory. Not wandered, but wondered.
What's that?
Nah, no need for thanks. Just but me a few dozen pints some day.
-
Besides, if I'm that smart then how come I spelt 'buy' with a 't'?
