Title: Ebay push tug hull

Guys, attached are a few pics of the push tug hull I bought from ebay. You'll notice it's not exactly straight along the hull sides (I did get a partial refund on the cost because of this)...so, any ideas as to the best way to straighten it out?

Hi Rich

You could try clamping the sides together with sturdy timber lengths and then apply a 'Hot air gun' gently. Let it cool and then do it again. Leave the clamps on for a day and it might solve your problem.

That's what I did consider Paul, frame it on the inside with 1/4" x 1/4" hardwood, clamping everything up and keeping my fingers crossed that it straightened itself out.

Ken, don't have a hot air gun, but I have the good woman's hairdryer on standy. She'll not know I used it, she's in Canada....

Strap wood to either side and fill with boiling water, then let it cool to avoid distortions - then frame it.

Make sure the deck you fit is striaght and wedge it in.

Only for slight bends, I have seen a model tear itself appart because to much force was stored up.  when ir went it took modt of the deck of  :o

hmm...some interesting replies there, thanks guys.

The problem has sort of solved itself...the chap who moulded the hull is a member of Mayhem, he read this and is in the process of moulding another one for me, hopefully with straighter edges this time!

Hi
if the sides have bowed in a little it might just be that the resin had a little too much catalyst put in it causing it to shrink a little whilst curing.Nothing much to worry about but as you've got a new one on it's way i'd vote for framing it inside as well.I'm going to try and post some pics of a 24" Damen style  harbour tug i've done the plug for on here tonght and see what the mayhemers think!

Cut a 1/2" Ply deck, making it a tight fit and tap it in, then apply epoxy to seal around the inside.
Thats what I did for my Springers.
