Hi all

I am a member of the above club and we have been going for a few years now but we dont seem to be getting many new members  we are an active club and attend many show through the year and get some interest yet still not many members i am trying to think of ways to attract new members i have already got the club logo and web adress on my van but how elese can i attract new members any tips our adress is http://www.modelhover.org/

Come up with a ( or publicize an existing )  simple and endurable plan that modellers can 'have a go at' with
bits of stuff already lying around the workshop.  I seem to remember a kit or plan (SLEC?!?!) that was based on
plywood and foam pipe lagging.......

( The Springer tugs were based around parts from RC cars; 540 motor, 7.2 volts & 2 channel radio, you could do the same! )

i am not sure about anyone else, but the idea of needle and thread and making the skirt puts me off having a go at building one of these !!!

 i know kits are available but i would wnat to scratch build one but i just know i would make a hash of the sewing of the skirt !!!! O0

We have Hoverboy in our club and his hovercrafts are really quite technical (also bl**dy noisy). Some of the old codgers have passed a rule that the hovercrafts be used at the other end of the lake.

Wouldn't mind seeing a build of one of these.

Hmmm...

Would one from pipe lagging work? Sounds like a good idea to me, got a few spare engines and a few miles of lagging lying around...

hi all thanks for the advise building a hovercraft is not hard its a popular misconception ther are some good plans out there and they are free first off try this one http://www.model-hovercraft.com/2000tdx/2000tdx.html it free simples to build and you get the skirt plans from this web site http://www.rc-hovercraft.co.uk/infoframes.html and as for stiching the skirt try chatting the wife up and if that does not work Palaform will stich the skirt for you he also sell the material as well see www.modelhovercraft.co.uk we do a plan for a micro racer hovercraft thats nice and small but wont work on water really unless very calm you get it with the application pack once joined perhaps we could give some out at shows to get interest

I've made a start on a pipe lagging boat, I'm going to use an Irvine .15 car engine, once I get it back I'll carry on with the boat. Radio box will be thin ply with an acetate or plastic lid. Or I may even use a small plastic box for the whole thing.

I'll let you know how it goes.
