HMS Victory will bw continued this winter.
I do the Victory on the dining table indoors, and the others in a sort of workshop area at the back of the garage but this gets too cold in the winter

How about a 1:52 size? Materials cost about two quid?

One will be coming up shortly as an EeZeBild.....

Hi,
I've just started on the Speedline Tamar. Mine is going to be the Salcombe lifeboat. I'm waiting for the motors and electrics to get going, and playing with the Y boat in the meantime. Happy to share experiences and info/problems along the way.
regards,
Chris

Hi all, My electrics turned up today. A big package full of goodies!
I am planning to build the Tamar with the prop shafts as supplied by Speedline. Any views out there as to whether I should modify them to be able to lubricate them, i.e add a short oil/grease tube before I fit them?

Hi Chris,

I don't go for oil tubes in my props. I may be wrong but I find grease is good enough and seems to last. I figured the oil tubes were only handy if large usage was expected, or the fitting of high speed brushless motors warranted it.

Mind, you could fit the tubes to the shafts anyway if you wanted too, just in case.

Hope this helps

Dear Kenny, Rich,
Thanks for the replies guys. It's a real boon having the benefit of your knowledge and makes the build much more pleasurable.

I've been holding off fixing the shafts in case I ought to be modifying them, although I assumed a good greasing would last a lightly used season. You have confirmed what I thought and am happy to fit them now. In any case I will be able to remove the rudders to slip the inner shafts out backwards when needed. Thanks.

I have gone for 2x 12v 7aH lead acid batteries, 2x Graupner Speed 900 BB motors, 2 Electronize FR30HX 30amp speed controllers for the main drive, 1x 6v 3aH lead acid for the included bow thruster, rudder servo, receiver and lights. I have a Viper Mtroniks 15a controller for the bow thruster.
I am making this model more for the build than the running, so am keeping it simple for now but will allow for changes at a later date. I confess I have taken advice from whoever would give it! I found Mark at AModelWorld was really helpful and he spent a long time asking questions before he would sell me anything. I'll let you know how these bits work together when fitted. It is a leap of faith at the moment. (my last r/c model was a 1/6 scale yacht with no drive motor so I have little experience to call on)
