I can also recommend tamiyaclub.com (http://tamiyaclub.com) as a place to have a look.  It is anything but boats, however, the forum is a useful place for information on motors (540 series mostly) and also brushless motors for all you speed freaks out there.  Good for general model engineering stuff too, especially gear boxes and the like.
