Title: F1 singapore
Post by: hopeitfloats on September 28, 2009, 11:21:08 AM
does anyone think the singapore race would have to be the most boring one of the season. on at a ridiculous hour - 1am our time, hardly any passing chances, bumpy track. that was the first time in probably 20 years that i havent watched the whole race.

Seconded HIF, said this to SWTSMBO yesterday, just seems like a non race and did last year, like the "Docklands" race. TGF the Moto GP and WSBK and BSBK although it seems like the money virus is creeping in there also.

I'll drink to that...a right load of old c**p, seen more excitement in our depot at five in the morning.

Remember chaps...'serious fun comes in straight lines'

My daughter and I have been F1 fans for more years than I care to remember. Even though she's grown up and moved out, she still comes back to watch the races over Sunday lunch with us. But we were both waiting from Craig from Strictly to come and say "Dull, dull dull!"

Most excitement was watching the brakes on the Brawns start to go and wondering if JB would make it to the end. Oh, and hearing Martin Brundle coin Fernando's new nickname - TEFLONSO!  :} (Watch next year when the Teflon driver goes to the Teflon team!)

Sterile new circuits with no chance of overtaking may make more squillions for Bernie Eccles Cake, but it's boring me to tears.  <:(

Give me real drivers' circuits like Spa and Silverstone any day.

As an F1 fan since the days of Stirling Moss and his like, this was a pathetic excuse for a race! Street circuits with virtually no chance of overtaking makes it a mockery, it's not racing, it's just a procession. Time Ecclestone and his squillions were given the push, he's made more than enough money at it! Let's get back to the days when every circuit was a RACING circuit. >>:-( <*< >>:-(

It's not the circuits or even the drivers, it's the cars. What we need is steel brakes, flat bottoms, no venturis of any kind, vestigial wings (if at all), manual transmission, and a 10,000rpm rev limit. It worked well enough from 1966 to 1980.

In fact the much maligned 1 1/2 litre Formula 1 was more fun to watch. Remember Moss at Monaco and Nurburgring in 1961?

But there's only one driver left that can drive "propper" cars and he's got a neck injury.  O0
